Dear Dow Parents,
Have you found your school yet? If not, we would love to hear from you. We are in the same DOW building and incorporating the things you loved most about DOW, the three-day in-person and two days learn at home, lots of playtimes, multi-grade classrooms, etc. There is not a day that goes by that we don't ask ourselves what Cynthia would do or say. Her spirit very much lives on here in the building and school she created. If you think your child would like to come "home", please consider giving us a call.

JET will start enrolling students for the 2021/2022 school year on March 1st.
As JET enters our second year, we will continue to maintain most of the values and philosophies of DOW and Cynthia Day while incorporating a more laid-back, family feel.
In-person classes will be held from 8 am to 3 pm Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Work will be sent home on Tuesday and Thursday for your Wednesday and Friday work-at-home days.
We understand that not all kids learn at the same pace. We work hard to meet your child where they are and help guide them to the next step. We empower students to make choices that will benefit them in the future. Each child is different and needs something different. Our small classes and multi-year learning groups give us time to get to know the student and learn what motivates them. Imagine how well a teacher gets to know the students if he/she has them 7 hours a day for four years! We know when they are truly struggling, or if they just need a loving push. We form relationships with each of the students. The child knows what to expect and feels safe coming back the next year. Bottom line-- WE CARE.
The 2021-2022 school year will focus on ASIA. Following Cynthia's vision, we will continue to integrate lessons as we virtually travel through ASIA. We are big readers but also fans of audiobooks. We will read or listen to a book a month related to topics we are discussing in class. Mostly, we are going to have lots of fun in a safe and welcoming environment.
High School credits will be offered in the following classes :
English
Consumer Math- Including how to do taxes
Business Entrepreneurship including marketing and branding
Video Production
The History of Asia including world politics and world religions
Physical Education/ Health
Physics
* Other math courses are available via Teaching Textbooks. Courses are subject to change

Meghan Egloff- High School Teacher and founder has a degree in Education from Indiana University. Meghan is a mother of 3 boys. Meghan is an advocate of treating the whole student and reaching the kids where they are academically and emotionally. Meghan is the creative side of high school. She will have the kids writing songs, painting and building. Some days your student may come home covered in paint and glitter and tell you they learned how to filter and clean ocean water. Meghan is a big believer in keeping the kids moving and having fun. Even big kids can learn by doing instead of sitting all day. Ms. Meghan is also a published author of four children's books. Check out her Edison series on amazon.com.
Andrew Endorf - High School Teacher. Andrew has a Master's degree in European History. Andrew handles the more classical side of the high school class by teaching the students to write formal papers, site sources and use critical thinking skills. He stretches the students beyond their comfort zone by asking them to see things from differing points of view. He treats kids with respect and listens to their opinions. This year Mr. Andrew will focus on his favorite subject, European History.
April Coy- Middle School Teacher. April is a wife and mother of two grown children. April has been a home school parent for over 20 years. April is also very involved in her chuch, including leading youth groups. April allows the kids to be kids. She is kind and patient. April is flexible with her learning plans and customizes them to the students' learning style. Students in Ms. April's class spend a lot of time outdoors and exploring. This year she is focusing on invention and innovation. Students will make bows and arrows to learn trajectory. Students will also learn the history of high heels, why people bathed in goat milk and many other fun and creative topics that will keep your child interested.
Becky Hency - Becky will be joining us this year to teach kindergarten. She has twenty years of experience working with kids of all ages in their education journey. Becky and her husband Andy have five kids, one son-in-law, and three granddaughters. Becky loves spending time with friends & family, traveling, and hot summer days. Her plan for this school year is to have fun while helping the students build a firm foundation to stand on as they build and grow their knowledge.
Jim Donaldson - Jim served on the board at Days of Wonder school for 7 years. We are honored that he has chosen to spend his retirement years volunteering with us and our crazy kids. Jim brings a mix of creativity and technology to our program. Jim has taught robotics, painting, video editing, play writing, physics and much much more. Jim is a wealth of knowledge and loves watching the kids develop new skills. Jim can see beyond an ADHD diagnosis and help the student find a skill and path they can be proud of.

Sara has a degree in Education and also manages a house for troubled youth. Sara comes to us with valuable expertise in anxiety, ODD, ADD,ADHD, emotional issues and much much more. Sara is laid back and fun. This year she will be trying a new way of pod teaching. She will only have up to 5 kids in her class and they will be doing a lot of hands on projects. They will also take weekly adventures to parks, libraries, museums etc. She is excited about creating a woodland creatures theme this year.
Jasper- Jasper is our therapy dog-in-training. He is a Golden Doodle. He brings a great deal of comfort to the students with anxiety.
* Fun Fact. Ms. April and Ms. Sara have Jasper's brothers
Our team was originally part of Days of Wonder school. When the school closed in July of 2020 we looked at each other and said "we're not done." We had made a committment to our students to be there for them and we intend to honor it. We need them as much as they need us.
Our goal is to "meet kids where they are" and to provide a safe, loving, family-feeling environment for students to be themselves and thrive. We endeavor to instill a life-long love of learning, and to guide our students on the path to a happy and fulfilling life, whatever form that takes for them.
